The next meeting near you, first
Open the app and it shows what is on today around you, in the order the meetings start — with how far each one is, whether it is open or closed, and anything you need to know, like step access or a women's meeting. Tap one for directions.
Online meetings at any hour
Thousands of meetings meet on Zoom and by phone. Meeting Finder lists them by when they start, in your own time, so at three in the morning you can still find one starting in the next few minutes.
Your home group, saved
Save the meetings you go to and see what's around you on a map, free and with no adverts. With Annual, you also get a reminder before they start.
The Common Room
One space. Many fellowships. Shared recovery.
A friendly chat room for AA, NA, CA, CMA and Al-Anon, open day and night. Free, anonymous, and you join with just your email.
Where the meetings come from
Meetings belong to the groups that hold them. Intergroups, central offices, areas and NA regions publish their meeting lists — AA's in the open "Meeting Guide" format, NA's through BMLT. Meeting Finder reads those lists every day, so a change made by your local office reaches the app the same day.
Great Britain and Ireland's national lists aren't published that way yet, so their meetings come from Recovery Meeting Finder's copy of them, which it publishes about once a month. Changes there can take a few weeks to reach the app.
Every meeting says who listed it. If something is wrong, "Report a correction" in the app takes you to the people who can fix it.
Questions
Is Meeting Finder free?
Yes. Finding meetings near you or online, here or in the app, is free, and there are no adverts. Annual, a yearly subscription, adds saved meetings, reminders and the map.
Do I need an account?
No. There is nothing to sign up for and no name or email to give. Your location is used to search and is not stored.
What is an open or a closed meeting?
Anyone can go to an open meeting, including family, friends and anyone curious. Closed meetings are for people who have a desire to stop drinking (AA), or who think they may have a problem with drugs (NA). If you are not sure, go: nobody will ask you to prove anything.
What happens at a first meeting?
You can sit and listen. Nobody has to speak, give their full name or pay. Meetings usually last an hour; many start with a reading, then members share their experience. Newcomer meetings are made for a first visit. If you would rather talk to someone first, the service office that lists the meeting can help.
Is this the official AA or NA app?
No. Meeting Finder is independent: it is not run by AA or NA. It lists the meetings that their service bodies publish.
My meeting is missing or wrong.
Tell your local intergroup or service office: Meeting Finder shows their list as they publish it. If your area's list is missing altogether, see how it can be added.
Is there an iPhone app?
Not yet. It is on its way; the Android app is available now.
