The Common Room House rules
House rules
The Common Room is one room for every fellowship. These rules keep it a place people want to come back to.
Stay anonymous
- Use a first name or a nickname, never your full name. Don't share anything that could identify you or anyone else.
- What you hear here stays here. Don't copy, screenshot or repeat other members' words anywhere else.
- No contact details: no phone numbers, emails, links, social media handles or "add me on…". The room blocks them.
Be kind
- Everyone is welcome: every fellowship, every stage of recovery, friends and family. Speak for yourself, not for others.
- No put-downs, harassment, hate, threats, or sexual messages.
- Keep away from politics, religion and other subjects that divide people. There's plenty else to talk about.
Keep it safe
- Nothing for sale or to promote, and nothing about where or how to get alcohol or drugs.
- No medical advice. Share your experience; for anything medical, talk to a doctor or pharmacist.
- Members are 18 or older.
The AI host
Casey is an AI host, run by Meeting Finder, and here around the clock. Every message Casey writes is labeled "AI host", and Casey will always tell you so if you ask. Casey says hello, answers when you talk to them (start your message with @Casey), and starts a light conversation when the room is quiet, but isn't a sponsor, a counselor or a doctor, and doesn't replace a meeting or a person you trust.
Looking out for each other
- If a message breaks these rules or worries you, open it and choose Report. Meeting Finder's staff read every report. A message reported by several members is hidden until they've looked.
- Messages are checked automatically before they appear, and anything that breaks the rules is held back.
- Staff may remove messages and close accounts that break the rules.
Your messages
Messages are kept for 30 days, then deleted. You can delete any of your own messages, or your whole account and everything you've written, from Your account. More in the privacy policy.
